The Calligraphy Summit

Where people who love letters come together.

Free online events bringing together extraordinary calligraphers, lettering artists, teachers, makers and creative thinkers from around the world.

Come to learn a new technique. Meet an artist whose work you've admired for years. Explore what you might do with your own creative work. Or simply spend a few very good days with people who understand why anyone could possibly need that many pens.

What happens when the thing you love making starts becoming something more?

Maybe you'd simply like your hobby to pay for its own supplies. Maybe someone has asked, “Do you sell these?” Maybe you're curious about teaching, licensing, brand partnerships or selling your work. Or perhaps you already have a creative business and would quite like it to involve a little less hustle.

For three days, we're bringing together artists, makers and business experts to explore both sides of creative work: making something wonderful and figuring out what you might do with it.

And yes, there will still be plenty of actual making.

What Is It

More than one summit. More than one way to love letters.

The Calligraphy Summit is a free online event series for calligraphers, lettering artists and creative people of every level, held three times a year. Each summit brings together internationally recognized teachers for live demonstrations, hands-on workshops and conversations about both the art and the business of creative work.

Some events are about technique. Some explore creativity, history, tools and traditions. Some tackle the practical questions that appear when a hobby starts turning into a business. And some are simply an excuse to gather fascinating people from around the world and spend a few days making beautiful things.

Our presenters include internationally recognized master calligraphers, contemporary lettering artists, teachers, illustrators, makers and creative-business experts. You don't have to be a professional. You don't even have to be particularly good yet. Curiosity is enough.

About

Created by people who are slightly obsessed with letters.

The Calligraphy Summit grew from a simple idea: bring extraordinary artists, teachers and curious people together, remove as many barriers to participating as possible, and see what happens.

Since then, our online events have welcomed calligraphers and creative people from around the world to learn, make, experiment and connect.

The Summit is part of a larger community devoted to keeping the art of beautiful writing very much alive, while making room for where it goes next.
